Hey Ricky!
He still manages to blow my mind... |
Richard played Ricky Deeming only once, for the pilot episode of George Gently, which was first shown in April 2007. If I've calculated this correctly, he must have been filming this during a break in the production of (Season 2 of) Robin Hood. That's probably why I see so much of Guy of Gisbourne in Ricky, and that's always a good thing!
What's a
birthday without a birthday present? But what do you get the man who's living
his dream?

Ah, so that's why Ricky is so Guy-like.
ReplyDeleteI see Ricky as a more modern version of Guy. The fact that they are so similar probably also made it easier for Richard to combine the two roles: he didn't really have to let go of Guy to play Ricky.
DeleteRA looks a litte gaunt here. Perhaps he was losing weight to get ready for Lucas, in Spooks series 7? But Ricky Deeming grows on me for some reason. Another well done portrayal by Richard Armitage.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, Grati, he was also about to start playing Lucas North. In fact, Ricky looks like the perfect transition from season 2 Guy of Gisbourne to Lucas North in season 7 of Spooks!
DeleteWoW!!! Jeannie and you see Guy. Gratiana sees his gaunt features. I see Ricky. I've even thought his skelatal structure in his face must be like that of a cat - he can change to fit into any "space" to bring himself to the other side of something. Does that make sense? I've always thought Ricky's face looked broader; like Richard Armitage changed his facial structure to bring himself from being Richard Armitage to being Ricky. I hope I've been able to express my thoughts in these ramblings. Great pic choices - that profile, those eyes.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean, Kitty. I'm always amazed by how different RA looks in every role. He really becomes his characters... Such a great talent, our Richard!!
DeleteI watch George Gently a few days ago, and I'm still sighing... Richard definitively BORN to wear leather. :)
ReplyDeleteWatch him rolling the cigar, and hearing that voice when he says "and nothing ever changing, except the weather"
He filmed it at the same time as Vicar of Dibley (autumn 2006). I remember he told one lady he met at the VoD filming in front of a studio audience that he had to catch a plane the same night and be in Ireland to film George Gently the next day. Even more fascinating than filming it at the same time as RH!
